Typically on slider bags, the white plastic slider or zipper "fitment" opens and closes the zip lock creating a reliable seal every time - no need to double check to make sure the zip lock is fully closed as with regular zip lock bags. Only one hand is needed to open, remove contents and close.
Slider zip lock bags also offer more re-usability. Unlike regular zip locks, slider bags do not need to be pulled apart to open, so there is little chance of tearing the bags. Tougher slider zip lock bags can be opened and closed many times and still keep a positive seal.
